Too Human … Not so bad!
As far as I can tell all of my Great White Delight compatriots have been scared away from Too Human by the bad review scores. I, however, decided to help out a fellow GTAer (yes I feel that everything in the golden horseshoe is in the GTA, deal with it) and buy Denis’s game.
And I like it!
That isn’t to say that it couldn’t be improved. Chris Kohler over at Game/Life mentioned that almost every aspect of Too Human could have been improved upon, despite the fact that it was a fun game, and I can’t really argue with that, but by the same measure I’ve have serious fun with the game.
I think that on a fundimental levle the gameplay mechanic of sliding between enimeies is about as complex as standard MMO/Diablo fighting, but it give a visceral response that none of it’s proginators expouse. Sure the animation is a bit canned, and there are really only four enmemy types (plus bosses). And sure there aren’t many levels and sure tbe story seems fairly limited. But, fundimentally, I enjoy moving my character to kill enemies and to get loot to put on my dude. That’s all I really need.
I think the thing that would have made this game a clear winner would have been the inclusion of elements like the secondary planets in Mass Effect. Yes those planets were mostly useless, but they gave the whole universe of the game a sense of epic scale. There is nothing similar in Too Human.
Regardless, I want to keep playing. Anyone want to start a co-op campaign?
